We regret to bring you the news that a Suburban Kansas City Firefighter has died in the Line of Duty after a roof collapse at a house fire. More on the story below. Our thoughts and prayers are with all involved.
“KANSAS CITY, Mo. — UPDATE: JAN. 5, 1:45 | A West Peculiar firefighter was killed when the roof collapsed.
The Missouri Highway Patrol confirms that crews were fighting a heavily involved house fire when the flames became too intense, and crews were evacuating the structure, but the roof collapsed and one fireman did not make it out.
Area fire crews including Peculiar, Lee’s Summit, Harrisonville, Pleasant Hill and Kansas City, responded to a house fire west of Peculiar Sunday morning.
Fire crews were called to the scene at 23311 Deer Run Road shortly before 11:00 a.m.
Officials said the blaze began in the laundry room, and the floor gave way, and the firefighter fell into the basement. The firefighter was transported to an area hospital and later died.
Shortly after arrival West Peculiar emergency crews called for additional help from the Kansas City Fire Department.”…Continue Reading Here
