Chicago Firefighters battled a 2-11 Alarm Fire in the south loop this morning. Companies responded around 10:30 this morning to the current Firehouse Restaurant and former Chicago Firehouse and found heavy fire conditions. We do not have any reports on injuries yet at this time. This former firehouse was opened in 1905 and housed Engine Co. 104. WGN – “A two-alarm fire that was burning at a well-known South Loop restaurant has now been struck out.

The fire began at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Chicago Firehouse restaurant at 14th and Michigan. The restaurant is located in a turn-of-the-century building that formerly housed a Chicago fire station.

A Chicago Fire Department spokesman says it started when roofers who were doing repairs “had an accident.”
