 (WLS) — “One person was killed and a firefighter was injured when a fire broke out at an apartment building the 300-block of North Central Avenue in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood.
The Chicago Fire Department says the fire broke out just after 10 p.m. in one apartment in the building. While it was not a very big fire, it produced a lot of smoke and caused a lot of smoke damage, according to fire officials, and displaced 30 people. The injured firefighter fell down a 20-foot elevator shaft and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
