CHICAGO (WLS) –Â “Traffic is blocked Wednesday morning in the 100-block of East 47th Street in Bronzeville after a two-alarm fire to commercial buildings. Â
No injuries were reported.
The South Side neighborhood still smelled like fire early Wednesday due to the fire, which broke out just before 10:30 p.m. 47th Street and Indiana.
The blaze damaged a furniture store, nail shop and pharmacy.
Flames burned strong for nearly two hours before the fire caused the roof to collapse.
“I’m so upset because there won’t be any work in the morning,” said Michael Jones, who works at the furniture store. “I hate that a lot of people are going to be without their medicine because the pharmacy caught on fire too.”
Some people will need to find a way to fill and refill prescriptions at another pharmacy because of this fire.
Fire investigators said Wednesday morning that the cause of the fire is not determined.
More than 200 ComEd customers lost power as a result of the fire, but power was restored Wednesday morning.”
