Battalion Chief – Administration

The City of Merrill Wisconsin, located in the north central Wisconsin, is currently seeking experienced public safety professionals with strong leadership competencies as candidates for its next Battalion Chief – Administration. 

The next Battalion Chief – Administration will be responsible and possess specific skills related to the Fire Administration, Fire/EMS Training and Fire Prevention divisions of the department. Th is position must possess well – devel oped writing and public speaking skills .

Experience :

Ten year experience in an organized paid professional Fire/EMS Department , at least two years experience in a supervisory/command position at the Battalion Chief level or higher, responsible work experience in fire suppression, emergency medical services, fire department training, fire department administration, fire prevention, public education, fire investigations, communications and labor relations.

Qualifications :
Associate Degree in Fire Science (Fire Protection, Fire Science, Fire – medic, or related field preferred), Certification as a Fire Fighter Two (2) by the State of Wisconsin or IFSAC, State of Wisconsin certified EMT- B, National Registry accepted, Certification as a Emergency Services Instructor One (1) (Fire Instructor One (1)) by the State of Wisconsin or IFSAC, Certification as a Fire Inspector by the State of Wisconsin or IFSAC , A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, Residency requirements apply within 90 days of hire.

Additional considerations:

Bachelor’s degree i n fire science or related field, State of Wisconsin certified Paramedic -National Registry accepted, Fire Officer One(1), Executive Fire Officer Certification from the National Fire Academy, Other relevant combinations of education and work experience may be evaluated on an individual basis

Work Schedule :

Generally Monday – Friday, 7 am – 4 pm occasionally serves as Duty Shift Commander for assigned shift and responds to emergency incidents.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $63,118 to $70,131 plus benefits .
