The City of Watertown, Wisconsin, population 23,995 is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Fire Chief. The Department currently has 24 full time employees (including EMTs, Paramedics and clerical), 13 paid-on-call personnel and an annual operating budget of approximately $2,462,000. The hiring process may include but not be limited to an exam, essay, oral interview, background investigation, psychological evaluation and a physical exam. The salary range is $81,390 – $88,628 plus benefits. Education and Experience: Four year degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Management or Public Administration, ten years experience as a firefighter in a department comparable to the Watertown Fire Department, EMT certified, and at least four years experience in the rank of Platoon Captain or above. Qualified candidates will have a comprehensive knowledge of modern firefighting methods, emergency services, fire prevention, public education, fire safety, fire inspection and budget preparation, as well as solid labor relations experience and demonstrated quality leadership. Management experience is necessary and must be documentable.
