Job Description:

The City of Clearwater is currently hiring for Fire Medic.  All testing must be completed by August 3, 2016.  Candidates must have both FireTEAM and a valid CPAT for this position.

The Organization: The City of Clearwater operates under a Council/ Manager form of government. The Fire Chief reports directly to the City Manager and is assisted in his administration of the department by a Deputy Chief, four Assistant Chiefs and support staff. In August 2011, Clearwater Fire & Rescue became a Nationally Accredited Fire Agency.  The Department serves a fire protection district of 42.5 square miles that includes approximately 133,000 City/County residents. The community is currently served by 8 fire stations. The stations are strategically located to provide 4-6 minute response times throughout the City. Clearwater Fire responds to approximately 25,000 calls for service annually, with about 85% being requests for Emergency Medical Services. Clearwater Fire is a full-service Department providing non-emergency and emergency response services including Fire Prevention, Fire and Life Safety Education, Emergency Management, Advanced Life Support Rescue, Fire Suppression, Heavy Rescue and Extrication, and Marine Rescue.

US Citizen: Yes, Lawfully work in US

High School Grad/GED: Yes

Valid FLORIDA State Driver’s License: Yes

Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes

Vision: Vision correctable to 20/40 or better in both eyes

Necessary Certifications:

  • State of Florida Firefighter Certification
  • State of Florida Paramedic Certification
  • Successful completion of CPAT and NTN FireTEAM Testing

Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers:

No record of a conviction of a felony or a conviction of a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude

Additional Disqualifiers:

  • Applicants must not have used any form of tobacco products for one year prior to the date of State of Florida Firefighter certification.
  • Able to meet and maintain departmental requirements of health, physical and mental condition

Residency Requirements:

Individuals hired as Firefighters are required to establish and/or maintain a bona fide residence in Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Manatee or Hernando County.
