The Organization: The City of Clearwater operates under a Council/ Manager form of government. The Fire Chief reports directly to the City Manager and is assisted in his administration of the department by a Deputy Chief, four Assistant Chiefs and support staff. In August 2011, Clearwater Fire & Rescue became a Nationally Accredited Fire Agency.Â The Department serves a fire protection district of 42.5 square miles that includes approximately 133,000 City/County residents. The community is currently served by 8 fire stations. The stations are strategically located to provide 4-6 minute response times throughout the City. Clearwater Fire responds to approximately 25,000 calls for service annually, with about 85% being requests for Emergency Medical Services. Clearwater Fire is a full-service Department providing non-emergency and emergency response services including Fire Prevention, Fire and Life Safety Education, Emergency Management, Advanced Life Support Rescue, Fire Suppression, Heavy Rescue and Extrication, and Marine Rescue.

- State of Florida Firefighter Certification
- State of Florida Paramedic Certification
- Successful completion of CPAT and NTN FireTEAM Testing
Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers:
No record of a conviction of a felony or a conviction of a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude
- Applicants must not have used any form of tobacco products for one year prior to the date of State of Florida Firefighter certification.
- Able to meet and maintain departmental requirements of health, physical and mental condition
Individuals hired as Firefighters are required to establish and/or maintain a bona fide residence in Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Manatee or Hernando County.
