Job Description:

Minimum Requirements:

  • $125 non-refundable application fee
  • U.S. citizenship or legally authorized to work in the United States
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Valid driver’s license

*Important Note: these are the minimum threshold requirements for the CO FIREfighter Testing Consortium. Individual departments may hold more stringent requirements. In order to be considered for each agency you must comply with their minimum standards. For example, some agencies require EMT-B and HazMat certifications, however, the timing of the requirement may differ. Please see the department(s) job description for specific information on individual department requirements. 

Documentation Required by Deadline:

  • Certification and licensure form (available after purchase)
  • Copy of high school diploma
  • Copy of valid driver’s license
  • Copy of birth record (passport, birth certificate, naturalization papers, green card)

Testing Information

Eligible candidates must attend one (1) of the mandatory written examinations outlined below.

Colorado testing sessions:

  1. Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at The Potter’s House of Denver, 9495 E. Florida Ave., Denver, CO – multiple testing sessions will be available; exact times will be provided at a later date
  2. Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Westminster Public Safety Center, 9110 Yates St., Westminster, CO – multiple testing sessions will be available; exact times will be provided at a later date 

Illinois testing sessions:

  1. Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at IOS, 1127 S. Mannheim Rd. Ste. 202, Westchester, IL – Two (2) testing sessions will be available: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.; 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. 
  2. Saturday, October 14, 2017 at IOS, 1127 S. Mannheim Rd. Ste. 202, Westchester, IL – Two (2) testing sessions will be available: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.; 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. 

*Important Notes:

  • Testing sessions will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. To increase the likelihood of selecting your desired timeslot, be sure to correctly submit all the required documentation by the application deadline.  You will be notified via email on how to register for a testing session at a later time. Dates and times are subject to change. 
  • If you tested in the spring 2017 consortium you do not need to reapply unless you would like to retest in attempt to improve your score. Testing scores are valid for a one-year period. 
  • If you would like to retain the score that you achieved in the spring 2017 process, no further action is required. Your score will automatically be combined with the fall 2017 testing cycle.
