Salary: $33444.00 – $54360.00 Annually
Participates in classroom and on-the-job training and upon completion of the academy, performs risk reduction, fire suppression, public education, emergency medical care, and equipment maintenance.
1 Attends training sessions to learn proper methods, procedures, and techniques used in risk reduction, fire suppression, public education, and emergency medical care. *
2 Responds with crew on emergency, accident, fire, and emergency medical calls on fire apparatus and emergency rescue vehicle. *
3 Studies and participates in equipment use training. *
4 Upon completion of the academy, performs fire control/suppression duties and administers first aid and basic life support to patients. *
5 Maintains apparatus, emergency rescue vehicle and fire station.
6 Conducts business and hydrant inspections.
7 Conducts salvage and overhaul of premises after fire is extinguished.
8 Participates in fire drills, public education programs, and risk reduction inspections.

High school diploma or GED. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Applicants must obtain Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) certification from the Georgia Department of Human Resources and NPQ1 Firefighter Certification within 12 months of employment in this classification. Must possess and maintain a valid State driver’s license. The working test period for this job classification is 12 months. Must achieve both certifications within working test period to retain position.
