Firefighter – Entry Level & Lateral

Salary: $53,914 ‐ $67,536 Annually
General Statement of Duties:
This position is responsible for performing tasks necessary to preserve the health and safety of the public in fire and non‐fire situations, including basic life support, to patients who are victims of trauma and medical emergencies; fire suppression in both structure and wildland areas; and accidental releases of hazardous materials. The Firefighter safely operates emergency vehicles and performs routine and minor maintenance of apparatus and fire stations. This position assists in providing public education and fire prevention services to the community. Duties and the assigned schedule will be varied.
The ideal candidate will possess a high level of professionalism and problem solving ability; must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Certifications required at the time of hire: State of Colorado Firefighter I, State of Colorado Hazardous Materials Operations, and State of Colorado Emergency Medical Technician. Reciprocity is available through Colorado Division of Fire Prevention & Control. Lateral positions will be considered for an applicant that has 1 or more years of experience.
Persons hired under the District’s lateral entry program will enter at the starting rate of salary and benefits (hiring rate). Upon successful completion of their first year’s employment with the District and initial task book, persons hired under the District’s lateral entry program may receive additional salary and benefits commensurate with their total years of relevant experience, up to a maximum of five years.
Valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) must be current as of September 17, 2018.
