Firefighter Trainee

Salary: $11.64-$28.29 Per Hour

Job Description:

The City of Panama City Beach is currently accepting applications for nine Panama City Beach Firefighters.  Please review the qualifications located in the full job description included in the application packet. Applicants must possess a valid Florida driver’s license and have a driving record that is acceptable to the City’s insurance program.  Positions requires testing.   

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), FloridaBureau of Fire Standards and Training Certification (Firefighter II Compliant) or be enrolled in a class and complete within one (1) year from date of hire.  Must possess an Emergency Medical Technician license for the State of Florida or be enrolled in a class and complete within one (1) year from date of hire. (EMTs must be willing to become firefighter certified and or certified firefighters must be willing to become EMT certified at a minimum).  Applicants must have passed the Firefighter Examination administered through Civil Service with a minimum score of seventy percent (70%). 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid State of Florida Firefighter II Certification. 

Valid Florida EMT and/or Paramedic Certification. 

APPLICATIONS:  Civil Service Office is located in City Hall, 17007 PCB Parkway, Panama City Beach. Civil Service hours of operation are Monday–Friday, 8 A.M. – 4 A.M., not testing after 3 P.M., with Civil Service usually closing 1:30 P.M. – 2:30 P.M. for lunch.  If the Civil Service Representative is unavailable, the reception desk can accommodate job seekers with application pick-up, drop off, or testing.  Deadline dates vary but deadline times are noon on the closing date or a week before the next scheduled Civil Service Meeting. Application Deadline:    Noon on February 26, 2020 

Interview:  March 4, 2020

Qualified applicants will be notified by email as to what time their interview will be held
