The Notre Dame Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter. Firefighters at the University of Notre Dame are the primary source of fire protection, emergency medical services, fire prevention, fire detection and fire safety education for the Notre Dame community. Firefighters work 24 hour shifts during which they maintain a constant state of readiness to respond to medical emergencies, reports of fires and activated fire alarms at the University of Notre Dame, St. Maryâ€™s College, Holy Cross College and surrounding areas. Outside of calls for service, firefighters also inspect buildings for fire code and safety violations, test and inspect fire alarm systems, perform maintenance on department equipment and provide fire safety education to students, staff and faculty.Â Shall be considered University critical staffing.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5 or more years experience.
- Valid State drivers/operators license, Firefighter 1 & 2 (or equivalent) certification, Hazardous Materials Operations certification, Indiana Emergency Medical Technician-Basic certification.
Confined Space Rescue certification, High Angle Rescue certification, Trench Rescue certification, EMT-Advanced certification preferred.
