Department Information: The fire department operates two fire stations. The downtown station houses an ALS Engine, Fireboat, and a Shift Commander. The northern station has an ALS Truck, along with administration offices. The city participates in Pinellas County automatic aid and the State of Florida mutual aid and runs approximately 4,000 calls a year.
City/County Information: City of Safety Harbor is located in Pinellas County and borders Tampa Bay. The community is mostly residential with a small town ambiance. The downtown area has vibrant growing businesses offering restaurants, shopping and a spa resort as well as a marina. The northern area contains a large hospital and other medical facilities.

Valid FLORIDA State Driver’s License: Yes
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
Vision: Must pass NFPA 1582 entry physical
Academy Certification:
- State of Florida Firefighter II
- State of Florida EMT or Paramedic
- ACLS and ITLS for Paramedics
- Valid CPAT
Specific Disqualifiers:
Felony Disqualifiers
Must not have any felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude.
Driving Disqualifiers
A poor driving record will classify a candidate as undesirable; however, it may not necessary remove a candidate from consideration.
Drug Disqualifiers
Any current use or experimental with drugs classified as control substances, or any other illegal drugs, while not under the care of a licensed physician.
Employment Disqualifiers
A poor employment record will classify a candidate as undesirable; however, it will not necessarily remove a candidate from consideration.
Other:
A pre-employment medical examination, including drug screening will be conducted for candidates that are offered a position.
