The Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire District is a Special Purpose District composed of 6 Board Members from Horry and Georgetown Counties. Fire Department operations are under Chief Norman Knight’s control with assistance from the Asst. Chief, the Administrative Assistant, EMS Captain, Training Captain and Fire Marshal. These individuals make up the M.I.G.C. FD Administrative Staff.
The core group of Emergency Responders for the District are shift based, and work a “24 on, 48 off” schedule. Each shift is headed by a Captain who oversees 17 career Firefighter EMTs and/or Medics.
State Retirement System The Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire District contributes to the Police Officers Retirement System for each employee at 16.24%, with employee contribution at 9.75%
State Health Plan The Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire District participates in the BC/BS State of South Carolina Health Plan.
Benefits The M.I.G.C FD has a seperate 401k plan that is FD member driven, a vacation buy-back program, and a competitve PTO tiered system.

The Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire District is currently accepting applications for NREMT/FF & NRP/FF. The M.I.G.C FD holds qualified applications for 2 years from date of receipt.
Must hold EMS certification through the National Registry of EMTs
Fire training must be IFSAC or Pro-Board
Must have a valid Driver’s License
