Job Description:

The Speedway Fire Department is accepting applications for Firefighter/EMT. Applications will be available online at: www.speedwayin.gov or can be picked up at the Speedway Town Hall from 8:30am – 12:00pm and 1:00 – 4:30pm weekdays beginning Monday, June 17th through Monday, July 1st at the Speedway Town Hall, located at 1450 N. Lynhurst Drive, Speedway, IN 46224. No digital or faxed copies will be accepted. All completed applications must be returned to the Speedway Town Hall or postmarked by 4:30pm Friday, July 5th, 2019.
 
Minimum Requirements:
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to apply:
  1. Be a citizen of the United States.
  2. Be a High School graduate or equivalent.
  3. Be at least twenty (20) years of age by date of appointment, but under thirty-six (36) years of age, or be no more than forty (40) years and six (6) months of age and has completed twenty (20) consecutive years of military service and eligible to receive an honorable discharge at the time of appointment.
  4. A copy of your current CPAT card must be submitted with your application or turned in prior to your Oral Interview.
  5. Hold a valid driver’s license.
  6. No felony convictions.
Selection Process: 
Provided the candidate meets the minimum requirements above, here are the next steps in the
selection process. The successful completion of each stage is necessary to proceed in the selection process.
 
IMPORTANT DATES
  1. General Aptitude Test – TBD (You will be notified) The candidate will be required to pay a $25 (Cash Only) testing fee at the door to sit for the written aptitude test. This test measures the candidate’s ability to understand and remember written and oral information, perform basic math and understand mechanical principles and diagrams. The passing score for this stage of the process is a 70 percent or higher.
  2. Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) – Current CPAT card brought to Oral Interview Candidates must submit a current CPAT Card with your application or turned in prior to your Oral Interview.
