The City of Farmers Branch is recruiting
candidates for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic.
(Paramedic Incentive Pay: $225/month)
The purpose of this position is to function as
a task level Firefighter and Paramedic.

Essential Job Functions:
This position fights fires and handles firefighting equipment as directed by the officer in charge; performs extinguishment, rescue, ventilation, salvage and overhaul functions; performs basic and/or advanced life support activities tied to supporting the departments EMS program. May ride on a Fire Department ambulance.
The firefighter, in the absence of a regularly appointed Driver or company officer, may be selected to assume those roles including all responsibilities associated with the assignment. They participate in all department training activities and company level drills, and attend outside training classes as directed by the department. Keeps all assigned equipment and fire station clean and in a state of readiness.
Education and Experience:

Must be at least the age of 18 by the date of the Physical Agility Test.
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. (Fire Industry Associates Degree is preferred.)
Valid Texas Commission on Fire Protection Certified Basic Firefighter Certification or equivalent (IFSAC Seal FF1 and FF2) by January 31, 2016.
Valid Texas Department of State Health Services Paramedic Certification or National Registry Paramedic Certification by January 31, 2016.

Valid driver’s license with a good driving record (no more than 3 citations/accidents within the last 3 years; no DWI/DUI convictions within the past 10 years.)
If applicable, an honorable discharge from the military.
If invited, must attend and pass the Physical Agility Test on February 10, 2016 or February 11, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. (A practice day will be held on February 8, 2016 at 8:00 a.m.)
If selected, must be available February 16, 2016 and again on February 17, 2016 for interviews.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, polygraph test, psychological exam, criminal background check, and physical exam.
