Job Description:

Application deadline: Friday, February 15, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. (CST)

The online application and required documents must be submitted to IOS Recruitment no later than 2:00 p.m. (CST) on 2/15/19 – no refunds for late submissions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be between 21 and under the age of 35 years on 3/23/2019 (exceptions for active military personnel and previous firefighter experience per 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6)
  • High school diploma or equivalent high school education 
  • Good moral character and possess temperate habits
  • Be of sound mind and health and physically able to perform the essential functions of Firefighter
  • Candidates must either possess a valid Illinois EMT-Paramedic license from Lutheran General System, or obtain such license within the first eighteen months of employment as condition of continued employment 
  • Submit proof of having passed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and Aerial Ladder Climb test through a certified agency. CPAT card must be used within the twelve (12) months prior to the written examination (valid if issued between 3/23/18 to 3/23/19)
  • Must be a resident of and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Candidate affidavit (1 page) – available after purchase
  • Background Investigation Authorization (1 page) – available after purchase 
  • Disclosure Regarding Background Investigation (2 pages) – available after purchase 
  • EEO Sheet (optional)
  • Copy of high school diploma
  • Copy of valid driver’s license
  • Copy of birth record as proof of citizenship or legal authorization to work in U.S.: can include: county/state-issued birth certificate, U.S. passport, naturalization papers, permanent resident card (green card)
  • Copy of valid CPAT and ladder climb. Must be dated 3/23/18 – 3/23/19
  • Copy of IL EMT-Paramedic license (if applicable) 
  • Copy of official college transcripts (if applicable)
  • Copy of certificate from Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (if applicable) 

Written Exam:

Saturday, March 23, 2019 – Glenbrook High School, 400 West Lake Ave., Glenview, IL

You must arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. to sign-in with photo identification.
