Firefighter/Paramedic

Job Description:
- Under general supervision, performs the full array of duties assigned to classes in the Firefighter series including medical response and care for injured or ill persons; combats fires; protects life and property; operates and maintains firefighting equipment and fire stations; participates in fire prevention activities including effective inspections, public education and enforcement of codes; demonstrates a full understanding of all applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties; occasionally assists in the training of other Firefighter positions; performs related duties as required.
Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for a Firefighter/Paramedic. A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is possession of the equivalent of one year as a full-time firefighter, two years as a volunteer firefighter or a Firefighter I certificate. A high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 18 years of age, possession of a California Paramedic License including certification in ACLS Provider, a current PEPP or PALS, ITLS or PHTLS, possession of a current CPR certification and become accredited in Solano County as a paramedic within 21 days of appointment are required. Possession of a valid class C California driver’s license and a CPAT is required. A CA State Certified Firefighter I certificate is highly desirable.
Selection & Processing: Applications will be reviewed for minimum qualifications and only the best qualified will continue in the process. The examination process may consist of a written test, oral interview and/or a paramedic assessment center. Those selected are subject to a background investigation, physical and drug screen. You must show proof of identity that you can legally work within the United States.
