About the CPAT


Candidate must possess a valid State of Iowa EMT-Paramedic Specialist certification. Certification by the National Registry can be substituted for the Iowa certification, provided the candidate can obtain Iowa certification within 90 days of being hired.

Special Requirements

Testing process will include a written exam with a limited number of top scoring candidates invited to participate in the physical agility (CPAT) orientation, practice, and test process; oral interviews of top scoring candidates passing CPAT.

Miscellaneous Information

All eligible applicants for the Firefighter/Paramedic position will automatically be considered an applicant for Firefighter, too, but will only be required to take one written exam, one agility exam (CPAT), and one oral interview.
