Job Description:

The participating members of the Southern Nevada Regional Fire Recruitment are conducting a testing process for entry level firefighters for its member departments. Not all departments are actively recruiting, but this testing will be used to establish an eligibility list which will be used to fill future vacancies as they occur for one (1) year. When the testing process is complete, the eligibility list will be made available to the member departments listed below:

  • Clark County Fire Department
  • Henderson Fire Department
  • Mesquite Fire & Rescue
  • Mount Charleston Fire & Rescue
  • North Las Vegas Fire Department
  • Pahrump Valley Fire & Rescue


Employment Application: Applications will be accepted beginning December 8, 2015 and must be submitted no later than 5:00 PM, December 22, 2015 by visiting our website at Please note, this recruitment will be limited to the first 4,500 applications received and will close without notice, regardless if the closing date has been reached, when that number is received. Applicants will only be required to submit one application. Applications will be shared with participating agencies based on your designation.

Firefighter Written Exam: All candidates who meet minimum qualifications will receive an e-mail, no later than January 1, 2016, instructing them to register for the Firefighter Written Exam which will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 14, 15, and/or 16, of 2016. The cost of the Firefighter Written Exam will be $20 – $30.

Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT): All candidates who pass the Firefighter Written Exam with a 70% or higher are required to submit a valid CPAT card/notice that confirms their passing of the CPAT occurred on or after December 8, 2014. The CPAT card/noticemust be faxed to (702)868-2574, no later than February 15, 2016.  A subsequent CPAT card/notice may be required at the discretion of each participating department.

For your convenience, the College of Southern Nevada operates an indoor CPAT facility in Las Vegas. The cost of the CPAT is $150. Go to for additional information about their CPAT facility and for scheduling.

The CPAT is a sequence of 8 events requiring you to progress along a predetermined path from event to event in a continuous manner. This test was developed to allow fire departments to obtain pools of trainable candidates who are physically able to perform essential job tasks at fire scenes.
