Firefighter-Oak Creek Wisconsin-Deadline March 26, 2015

The City of Oak Creek is currently accepting online applications for the position of Fire Fighter.  This application process will establish an eligibility list that will be in effect for a period of six (6) months.  The City of Oak Creek Police and Fire Commission may extend the eligibility list for an additional six (6) months.

DEADLINE:  The final date for submission is 4 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES MUST:

1. Thoroughly complete an online application for employment.

2. Meet or exceed the minimum requirements:

• Have a high school diploma or acceptable high school equivalency certificate.
• Certified as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic at time of hire*.
• Certified as a Wisconsin Firefighter Level II at time of hire*.
• Certified as a Wisconsin Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator at time of hire*.
• 18 years of age or older at the time of hire.
• Be a non-smoker for the duration of employment.
• Possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license at the time of hire.
• Provide, upon request, proof of U.S. citizenship.

*Applicants will need to provide proof of enrollment in the following programs if they do not hold certifications for EMT-Paramedic, Firefighter II and/or Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator at time of application.

3. Complete and attain a passing score on a Personnel Evaluation Profile.

• A written Personnel Evaluation Profile will be administered by the Oak Creek Police & Fire Commission at the Fire Department Headquarters at 7000 S. 6th Street, Oak Creek, WI on the following date and time: Saturday, April 18, 2015 – 9:00 a.m. (registration begins at 8:30 a.m.)

4. Attain a passing score on the written exam.

• The written exam will be administered immediately following the Personnel Evaluation Profile.
• If a candidate took the State Firefighter exam within the past 6 months (184 days) and the department obtains verification from the exam office the candidate is not required to re-take the exam.

Applicants will be notified by email of their eligibility to participate in the Personnel Evaluation Profile and written exam.  There will be no makeup test.

5. Successfully pass the IAFF/IAFC Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT).

• CPAT certification will be accepted within the past 12 months from any agency that administers the test in accordance with the specifications and requirements of the IAFF/IAFC Candidate Physical Ability Test program (IAFF, 1999).
• CPAT certification is due prior to the written exam and will be accepted the day of the exam.

6. Successfully complete an interview with the Fire Chief and Command Staff.

7. Successfully complete a thorough background investigation.

8. After a conditional offer of employment has been made, but prior to commencement of employment, the candidate must:

• Attain a passing score on a comprehensive psychological test.
• Pass a thorough medical examination that includes, but is not limited to, a urine screen.

FAILURE TO MEET ANY OF THE ABOVE CRITERIA WILL RESULT IN CANDIDATE’S REMOVAL FROM THE HIRING PROCESS.
