2 killed when car hits pole on I-90 at Barrington

“Two people were killed when their car veered off the Jane Addams Tollway at Barrington and struck a light pole this morning, according to Illinois State Police.

The car, a silver Toyota Corolla, was headed west on Interstate 90 when the driver lost control and left the road, striking the pole at Barrington Road at 7:45 a.m., State Police said in a statement. The car ended up on the left shoulder of the eastbound lanes.

The names of the victims were not released.  State Police said the cause of the crash was under investigation.

All lanes were back open by about 12:25 p.m., according to State Police.
