Applicants must be licensed EMT-B, EMT-I or EMT-P under the EMS Systems Act. All applicants for appointment to the Charleston Fire Department must be licensed as an EMT-P under the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Systems Act (65 ILCS 5/10â€‘2.1â€‘31) prior to hire. There is a required non-refundable fee of $25 that must be attached to the application packet.
