Child killed in Northwest Side 3-11 alarm fire identified as boy, 10

The boy who died in a 3-11 Alarm Fire on the northwest side of Chicago has been identified.  Firefighters responded to the fire at approx. 03:00 Sunday morning and found heavy fire blowing out of the third floor.  Companies immediately requested an EMS Plan at the scene of the fire as they encountered jumpers.

Chicago Tribune – The child killed in a Northwest Side fire over the weekend has been identified as a 10-year-old boy who lived with his family on the third floor of the building.

Ans Khan was pronounced dead at 7:20 a.m. Sunday, not long after firefighters put out at the fire at the four-story apartment building at 5731 N. Kimball Ave., according to the medical examiner’s office and friends of the family.

Eleven other people were injured in the fire, including at least five other children. They were taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital, Weiss Memorial Hospital and Thorek Memorial Hospital, fire officials said, two of them in critical condition.
