A Couple of Extra Alarm Fires Overnight in Chicago

Chicago Firefighters were busy overnight last night.  Companies responded to several extra alarm fires.  Here is more on a couple of those fires.

3 WOMEN ESCAPE ENGLEWOOD HOUSE FIRE

Police encountered heavy flames when they arrived in the 5700-block of South LaSalle Street in the city’s Englewood neighborhood around 10:20 p.m. Monday.

Officers were able to alert the three women inside the house. They escaped safely as flames shot out of the second floor. 

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze two hours later. No one was injured.”…Continue Reading Here

ROOF COLLAPSES IN WEST GARFIELD PARK FIRE

The fire started around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday at I.M. Matic Machining Co. in the 4000-block of West Fulton Street in the city’s West Garfield Park neighborhood.

People said they heard explosions in the area, but crews said it was probably tires popping inside the building.

About 100 firefighters worked the scene to get the two-alarm fire under control. Flames were shooting through the roof, which caved in nearly 30 minutes after the blaze broke out. The fire was struck shortly after the collapse.”…Continue Reading Here
