Firefighters pull three children from apartment
DANVILLE — Firefighters rescued three small children from a house fire early Tuesday afternoon.
Danville fire engines responded at 12:48 p.m. Tuesday to the fire at 1025 Grant St.
Assistant Fire Chief Tom Pruitt said the three children — two infants and a toddler — were brought out by firefighters from a first-floor apartment. None of the three were injured.
Pruitt said firefighters arrived on scene to find flames going up the outside of the south wall of the two-story structure. Officials determined a person using a blow torch in the basement of the building allowed an ember to get into the wall, starting the blaze.
Damages are estimated at $45,000.
