“A firefighter suffered a shoulder injury, three other people were injured and 20 people were displaced in two fires Friday morning.
Two minors and an adult were taken to South Shore Hospital from a fire in the 7800 block of South Colfax Avenue that started about 4:20 a.m., authorities said.
A firefighter suffered a shoulder injury and was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, authorities said. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
Ten adults and seven minors were displaced.
Another fire was reported about 5:30 a.m. in a town home in the 4500 block of South Woodlawn Avenue in the North Kenwood neighborhood.
Fire spread through a garage and two floors of living space above. Two adults and a minor were displaced by that fire.
While firefighters were chucking debris from the upper floor balconies, crews were orderd back into the building because the support for the balconies had been compromised during the fire.
No one was injured in the Woodlawn Avenue fire, authorities said.
