Suburban firefighters shared the true meaning of Christmas with the family of aÂ man gunned down during a robberyÂ Sunday night.
This is what firefighters do: they help people in distress. This weekend, Miguel Haro was trying to help his family by working extra hours at an Englewood construction site so he could buy extra Christmas presents for his daughter. As left the job site, he was ambushed, robbed and killed.
“We see a lot of good things and a lot of tragic things. We deliver babies and also lose people like this and our guys were pretty affected. They said they’d seen a lot in 25 years but this one will stick with them for a long time,” said Tim O’Brien, Chicago Firefighters Union.Â
“We took up a collection amongst ourselves and had 100 percent participation among those on duty. We got donations and gift cards for the family,” said Eric Habercross, Cicero Firefighters Union. Â Full Story Continued…
