“On 09-16-14 at 2144 hours the Kenosha Joint Services Dispatch Center received a call to check for a missing fishermanâ€™s vehicle. The Village of Silver Lake Police Department was dispatched and began this search. At 2234 hours Kenosha County Sheriffâ€™s Deputies joined efforts to locate the missing man.Â Initially, the McHenry (IL) County Sheriffâ€™s Department requested that the DNR boat launch in Silver Lake be checked for the vehicle of an overdue fisherman. The 66 year old fisherman had been gone since 0800 hours on 09-16-14 from his home in McHenry. The man was expected back home at about 1600 hours, but had not returned. Deputies did locate the manâ€™s vehicle at the boat launch. As the search around the area continued, the manâ€™s boat was located on the waters of Silver Lake not too far from shore.Â Salem Rescue responded with a boat crew as well as, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Kenosha County Sheriffâ€™s Department Marine Unit. Night time searches were called off at about 0200 on 09-17-14 and scheduled to resume at 0800.Â At 0800 hours today (09-17-14) search teams did resume searching the waters of Silver Lake. The search is considered a recovery mission at this point. A command post was established on Manor Drive in the Village of Silver Lake with Salem Fire Chief Mike Slover as the Incident Commander. Boats from the Wisconsin DNR, Kenosha Sheriffâ€™s Department, Village of Silver Lake Police Department and Salem Rescue are being utilized. Additionally, sonar equipment from Lake County, IL is being utilized to search underwater. A citizen also volunteered a pontoon boat in order to shuttle equipment to and from the waters.
