Still and Box Alarm Fire With a Mayday Alert and EMS Plan 1 in Chicago after Firefighter Falls Down Collapsed Stairs. Firefighter is OK and Went Back to Fighting The Fire

All ended well in Chicago this evening after a Firefighter fell on stairs that collapsed under him.  The Firefighter was able to get up out of the basement and keep working.  We are relieved there were no serious injures on this run.  Here is more on the story below.

Chicago Tribune – “A Chicago firefighter who fell about eight feet when a stairway collapsed during a blaze got back up and started working again, according to his supervisor Wednesday night.

“He fell, walked up the stairs and went back to fighting the fire,’’ said Battalion Chief Jeffery Mayer on the scene.

No one was injured during the blaze that started about 5:35 p.m. at 6943 S. Paulina St. in the West Englewood neighborhood and spread to 39-year-old Emerald Stewart’s house next door at 6945 St. Paulina St.”…Continue Reading Here
