Chicago Tribune:

“A woman believed in her 60s died following a house fire in Berwyn this morning, authorities said.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:36 a.m. after being found at a home in the 2400 block of South Scoville Avenue in the west suburb, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The woman was found in a search of the home as the blaze was being fought and was taken to MacNeal Hospital, said Berwyn Fire Chief Denis O’Halloran. No one else was in the home.

A passerby called 911 about 7:05 a.m. after seeing flames through the front window of the home, O’Halloran said.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, which had spread to the home’s attic, in about 25 minutes, O’Halloran said. Firefighters from Stickney, North Riverside, Forest Park and Cicero assisted in the firefighting efforts.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
