“9-1-2015 L.A. Firefighters, Light Force 33, Task Force 21, Engine 46 and Battalion 13 first on scene reported light smoke showing from “L.A. Mart Collective,” a marijuana dispensary on the 5900 block of South Broadway in South L.A. Firefighters quickly made entry and opened up the roof, encountering heavier smoke pushing its way out. Flames started showing from ventilation holes as Firefighters attacked the fire with handlines from above and below. Firefighters also laddered the exposure to the north, a large one story discount flooring and cabinet store. Reaching the seat of the fire was difficult due to the fire mostly involving the upstairs rooms and attic space. The older brick building was reportedly built in 1922. Smoke damage was extensive, there were no reported injuries. 101 Los Angeles Firefighters knocked down the main bulk of fire in under an hours time. Witnesses on the street reportedly heard loud explosions at the start of the blaze. The cause of the suspicious late night fire is under active investigation. – MNR -“
