“GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Firefighters are battling a massive fire on Grand Rapids’ Northeast Side.

The blaze reportedly is affecting the building once occupied by Oliver Racing Parts, located near the intersection of Cedar Street and Clancy Avenue NE. It started around 10 p.m. Sunday, April 12.

Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Sehlmeyer told reporters no one was inside the building at the time. Parts of the building, including its roof, collapsed, and all firefighters are accounted for while they fight the fire.

Power lines are down in the area, which might have an impact on neighboring homes and businesses, he said.

Embers were spreading from the building and into the surrounding neighborhoods, according to dispatch reports. The fire since has been contained to the building and is under control.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.”
