In what is shaping up to be a bad day for first responders we regret to inform you of another Line of Duty Death. A Firefighter in Roane County, West Virginia has passed away after his Tanker (Tender) rolled over. Our thoughts and prayers are with all involved in this incident as well.
ROANE COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) — “A Roane County firefighter died Saturday while responding to a fire, according to the Roane County Sheriff’s Office and fire investigators.
Officials says the firefighter with the Clover Volunteer Fire Department was driving a fire truck that crashed on the way to a structure fire.
The crash happened on Big Sandy Road in the Newton area, Roane County dispatchers said.
Dispatchers say the road will be closed for at least five more hours. Drivers should avoid the area.
According to dispatchers, the fire truck was on its top in the creek when emergency crews arrived.
The name of the firefighter has not been released.
