“HANOVER Co., Va. (WDBJ7) – State Police say a firefighter was killed in a crash in Hanover County on Thursday evening.
They say the Hanover County Fire and EMS stopped at a crash scene on I-295 for another two-vehicle crash.
Police say despite having its emergency lights on, one of the stopped fire engines was rear-ended by a tractor trailer.
According to police, the impact of that crash struck four firefighters.
They say Lt. Brad Clark died at the scene and the three others were taken to VCU Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
State Police say the driver of the tractor trailer was also sent to the hospital for treatment.

“A Hanover County firefighter was killed Thursday night when a tractor-trailer struck a firetruck that was providing assistance on Interstate 295.
Virginia State Police said in a news release late Thursday that a total of four Hanover Fire-EMS personnel were injured, with one of them dying at the scene. Another suffered life-threatening injuries, and the other two had serious injuries. The three survivors were taken to VCU Medical Center.
The firefighter who was killed was Lt. Brad Clark from Station 6, Hanover authorities said early Friday.”
