“Three brothers — ages 4, 5 and 8 — were rescued by firefighters on Tuesday after their Brooklyn apartment went up in flames and their grandfather, who had been caring for them, saved himself and left them to die.

The last boy to be pulled from the burning fourth-floor apartment in East New York’s Pink Houses was the youngest — Trevele Belton was unconscious when he was plucked from a bedroom by a probationary firefighter who had fought in the Afghan War.

Dramatic photographs shot by a Daily News photographer showed firefighters using a bucket ladder to reach the other two trapped children, Darian Bacote, 8, and Tremaine Belton, 5, and rescuers carrying the boys to waiting ambulances after they were delivered from danger.

The three boys were hospitalized, and the 4-year-old was initially in critical condition, officials said. He was later upgraded to stable condition.
