Off Duty Firefighters First on Scene at House Fire in California

A video from California shows off duty Stockton Firefighters first to arrive at a house fire.  They immediately take action and start the aggressive attack, until on duty companies arrive.  The video was posted by stevemillerman and the description below is from the Stockton Firefighters Local 456 Facebook Page.  Nice Work Fellas.

“Stockton Firefighters are ready, even off-duty! Stockton Fire Captain Mike Smith and family were in Oxnard recently, when he was alerted by his sister that there was a lot of smoke a few blocks over. Captain Smith jumped in the car with his daughter’s boyfriend Jake Tibbetts in toe- also a firefighter, with experience from the Greenville Fire Protection District. They pulled up to the fire in a civilian car and civilian clothes- but went to work as firemen. With no local units on scene yet, Mike and Jake forced entry on the neighboring exposure- saving an elderly woman and her three dogs from danger. As local firefighters showed up, Mike and Jake went to work again flaking line, backing up the nozzle men, flowing water, and helping to put the fire out. As more local units arrived, and eventually a chief- Mike and Jake were relieved of their vital roles in extinguishing the flames.  Incredible job guys! Stockton Firefighters are proud to serve and protect the citizens and City of Stockton, Ca- and anywhere else we happen to be….”
