A Madison County Fire Department Firefighter was killed today when he was operating at a car fire. Sunday morning Firefighter Chris Blankenship was killed by a falling tree while performing fireground operations at a car fire. His brothers on scene provided care and he was transported to Jackson-Madison General Hospital, where he later died of his injuries. Our pryers go out to his family and all the members of the Madison County Fire department. The Chief of the department, Eric Turner, said in a statement: “”I consider him a friend,” he said. “It’s like family. He’ll be missed tremendously.” “We’re trying to do everything we can for them as family and meet their immediate needs,” Turner said. “It’s just like if it were any other member of your family.” (Source: The Jackson Sun).
