Video of companies from Cal Fire and Riverside County Fire working a Motel Fire in Banning, California. Initially companies responded to a brush fire a long the freeway and soon after arrival realized there were exposure problems. The video was posted by LOUDLABS NEWS and description is below.
“BANNING – On Sunday afternoon July 16th Cal Fire / Riverside County Fire responded to reports of a vegetation fire along the westbound 10 freeway. The fire was reported shortly after 3:00pm on the westbound 10 freeway just east of 22nd Street. The first arriving engine company reported a half acre burning along the shoulder of the freeway with immediate threat to vehicles in the parking lot of the Travelodge Motel in the 1700 Block of W. Ramsey Street. Banning Police evacuated the motel as the fire advanced toward the building. The fire quickly spread to the property of the motel and extended to the roof of the Travelodge. A second alarm was requested as the fire rapidly spread throughout a portion of the roof. Firefighters made an aggressive fire attack however, had to evacuate the building as the roof collapsed. Banning Police closed W. Ramsey Street between 22nd Street and 16th Street while Fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.”
