NJ.Com – “A downed electrical pole touched off a 2-alarm fire that heavily damaged a Cape May church Saturday.
A commercial vehicle snagged guy wires from a utility pole in front of the historic Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church around 11:30 a.m., city fire officials reported, causing electrical wires to fall onto the building.
The church, located at Franklin Street and Osborne Court, is directly across the street from the Cape May Fire Department, but firefighters couldn’t jump right into the fray.
“Fire crews were not able to make an immediate fire attack due to the entire building being electrically charged,” Cape May Fire Department officials noted in a statement.
Atlantic City Electric responded to shut off power so that fire crews could do their job.”…Continue Reading Here
